What is font Licensing?
Just as you require a license to use software, you require a license to use a font—because a font is actually a piece of software. When you "buy a font" from Studio Lipi, you are purchasing a license to use that software for a specific purpose and for a specific set of users.
The type of license and the cost of the font is determined by the nature of use and the number of people who will use it. By purchasing a license, you agree to be legally bound to use the font according to the terms mentioned in the End-User License Agreement (EULA) that you receive with your purchase.
Types of Licenses
Print / Desktop License
Allows use for any print media or as static images in digital media.
E-Book License
Right to use and embed the fonts in one specific E-Book title.
E-Magazine License
Right to embed fonts in multiple issues of one E-Magazine title for a period of 1 year.
App Embedding License
Right to embed fonts in one application across various mobile/handheld platforms for a period of 2 years.
Broadcast License
Required for titling, credits, or onscreen text for TV channels, video, or motion pictures. Requires a separate agreement.
Self Hosting License
Right to host fonts on a web server for use on a single domain for a period of 2 years.
Corporate License
Unlimited installation across various locations of a single corporation. Please contact us for a quote.
SIL Open Font License (OFL)
Our open-sourced families are released under the OFL. Visit scripts.sil.org/OFL for more information.
Custom Requirement
